About Us
-
Helping older adults lead lives of growth, happiness, health and security has been the focus of Oakwood Lutheran Senior Ministries for more than six decades. At the center of our longstanding mission are two Continuing Care Retirement Communities we own and manage in the greater Madison, Wisconsin area – Oakwood Village University Woods and Oakwood Village Prairie Ridge.
Our faith-based, not-for-profit organization was founded in 1948 by an association of Lutheran churches. Today that association has 37 member congregations whose guidance and support enriches Oakwood Lutheran Senior Ministries in innumerable ways. Our board of directors is drawn from pastors, corporate executives and community leaders from the Madison area.
In addition to the two Oakwood Village retirement communities, we also provide additional services to older adults in the extended community through the Madison Area Continuing Care Consortium and through Supporting Active Independent Lives (SAIL). We are presently looking at ways of implementing innovative and sustainable affordable housing models, as well as a variety of home and based services.
Oakwood Lutheran Senior Ministries is committed to inclusiveness. Through our retirement communities and other services, we assist people of all faiths, financial means, ethnic backgrounds, cultures and sexual orientations.
