Caring is Sharing with Care Team Ministry®, a partnership with area congregations, Catholic Charities and Oakwood Lutheran Homes Association. For the last ten years, the Care Team Ministry® has compassionately served intergenerational families throughout the area. The Care Team Ministry® is active in congregations of all denominations and serves persons of all faiths.

The Care Team Ministry® model was developed by the Houston-based Interfaith CarePartners® in 1985. It is a proven, effective means to organize volunteers to support individuals who are often isolated, and struggling to remain independent. It is a faith-centered, congregation sponsored program that helps individuals and families cope with various non-medical needs. The program has a very simple structure. Each congregational Care Team® is led by Care Team® Leaders with support from its own Pastoral Staff and the Care Team Ministry® Coordinator, of Catholic Charities Aging Services.
All Care Team® Members are screened through background checks. If a Care Team® decides to provide transportation, additional training is done in Safe Transfer Techniques. Drivers’ record checks are completed on all Team Members who provide transportation. Some of the topics covered in the training are: Confidentiality, Team Members Limits of Care, Handling an Emergency, Active Listening Skills, Infection Control and the Principles of the Team Process. The Team Members abide by the ethics of confidentiality, respectful, compassionate care, and services offered without discrimination. On-going professional supervision and training are provided by the Coordinator of the Care Team Ministry®. Services provided in a non-judgmental, non-proselytizing manner.
