Funds

Every gift makes a difference and directly supports the Oakwood community.  Unrestricted gifts allow the Foundation to meet the greatest needs of Oakwood at that time.  Gifts can also be designated to support certain purposes:

General Endowment Fund

Gifts to Oakwood’s General Endowment Fund support new, innovative programs and services for older adults in the Oakwood Community.  For example, the endowment fund has funded “Supporting Active Independent Lives” (SAIL), a program based at Oakwood Village West that provides services to older adults in the Madison community.  Services such as house cleaning, snow shoveling and home repairs, allows older adults to live in their own homes and experience independence.

Continuing Care Endowment Fund

A certain percentage of income generated from this endowment each year helps to support residents who outlive their resources and are no longer able to cover the full cost of their care.

Jackson Quality of Life Endowment Fund

Established by a former resident who appreciated the care and support she received from well-educated, professional, compassionate staff, the Jackson Quality of Life Endowment Fund supports training and professional development for qualifying Oakwood staff members.  This endowment fund has been used in recent years to help address the critical shortage of nurses by supporting Oakwood employees advancing their nursing education.

Pastoral Care Endowment Fund

When active, vibrant lifestyles at Oakwood are interrupted by illnesses or accidents, three professional clergy members are available to provide emotional and spiritual support to residents, families, friends and staff of the Oakwood community.  The Pastoral Care Endowment supports the Pastors, ecumenical ministries and outreach efforts for the greater Oakwood community.

Enhancement Projects and Services

Gifts can be designated for the greatest needs of Oakwood Village or for specific projects that create the margin of excellence in care and services for people touched by Oakwood.  Examples of special projects include improved trails in the Nature Preserve, unique health and wellness activities, art installations and campus beautification.

Please contact a member of the Foundation team if interested in making a special gift.

"I couldn’t imagine living anywhere else.  Anyone thinking about a retirement community should at least consider Oakwood.  We have a chapel, an auditorium – there is not place I know of in Madison that comes close.  I’m right where I should be, and I like it here very much."
