Ways to Give
There are many ways to make a gift to the Oakwood Foundation. Whether you make a gift online, or through one of the other options explained below, every gift to the Oakwood Foundation benefits the residents at Oakwood and others throughout the community. Gifts can also benefit donors by providing a charitable deduction, income for life, tax savings and the enjoyment of helping others.

Cash gifts
Cash gifts can support general and designated purposes keeping in mind the donor’s intent and the priories and policies of the Foundation and its related entities. Pledges intended to be completed with cash gifts over multiple years can also be made.
Appreciated Assets
Gifts of appreciated assets can be the best value in charitable giving. In addition to receiving a charitable deduction, you generally are able to avoid paying capital gains tax on gifts of appreciated assets.
Bequest
Remembering Oakwood in your will provides future support for our ministry and allows you to decide how your property will be distributed. Bequests should be made payable to the Oakwood Foundation, Inc. Examples of language for certain gifts include:
Percentage of estate for unrestricted purposes
I hereby give, devise, bequeath to the Oakwood Foundation Inc., a nonprofit, non-stock Wisconsin corporation with its principal office in Madison, Wisconsin, _______percent (%) of the rest, residue and remainder of my estate as an unrestricted gift to be used in the area of greatest need at the time the gift is received.
Specific amount for unrestricted purposes
I hereby give, devise and bequeath to the Oakwood Foundation, a nonprofit, non-stock Wisconsin corporation with its principal office in Madison, Wisconsin the sum of _____________ dollars ($) as an unrestricted gift to be used in the area of greatest need at the time the gift is received.
Charitable Gift Annuity
The Foundation is authorized by the Wisconsin Insurance Commission to issue the charitable gift annuities to qualified donors. In exchange for a gift of cash or stock, Oakwood can provide you (and/or another person) with income for life, part of which is tax free, and a substantial tax deduction. The annuity rate is based partially on the age of the donor with older adults generally receiving increased income.
Charitable Remainder Trust
Through a Charitable Remainder Trust, you can make an irrevocable gift to a trust and receive an annual payment for life or a term of years, receive an immediate charitable deduction and bypass, reduce and/or eliminate various taxes.
Insurance
Many people own insurance policies which are no longer needed for their original purposes. Policies transferred to the Foundation or new policies naming Oakwood owner and beneficiary benefit both Oakwood and the donor.
Gifts in Kind
Gifts of services and non-cash items such as furniture, art and jewelry, may be accepted providing they reflect the needs and mission of the organization. It is the donor’s responsibility to provide a written estimate of the fair market value of the articles or services on the form provided by the Foundation.
All gifts should be made payable:

Madison, WI 53705
