“Preserving Nature” Lecture Series - Learning and Teaching About Energy

Transitioning to a clean energy system on a global scale is one of the most pressing challenges of our time, and prompt success will require broad engagement at all societal levels. This challenge is fraught with difficulties including system complexity, large financial implications, and political polarization on related issues, such as climate change and critical understandings that are beyond the scales of normal human comprehension.

Mike Maddox presents: A Talk About Garden Therapy

Mike Maddox, WI Master Gardener Program Director will provide a definition and brief history of Horticultural Therapy, followed by examples of vocational, therapeutic and well-being programs he has facilitated, and then end with practical gardening tips to reduce the wear and tear on your own body while gardening.  Mike graduated from the University of Northern Iowa with a degree in Botany and then earned his Master’s degree in Horticulture from UW-Madison. He is also an ISA Certified Arborist and has earned an AHTA accredited certificate in horticultural therapy.
