Care, Quality, and Longevity at Oakwood
We are a locally owned and managed non-profit organization. Our board of directors consists of corporate executives, pastors and community leaders from the Madison area. These dedicated volunteers are singularly focused on ensuring that Oakwood Village provides quality care and services. Any profits are reinvested back into the organization to ensure that we continually maintain and update our properties. When it comes to senior health, the care providers at Oakwood Village are passionate about improving the lives of older adults. Not only are they highly caring individuals, but they also carry on the more than 65-year tradition of supportive care on which we've built our reputation. We know the difference we make in people’s lives: we care for them, and we care about them. At Oakwood Village, your health is our calling.

Wisconsin's capital city, Madison, is an important aspect of the quality of the senior services we provide. With Oakwood Village Prairie Ridge located just east of downtown and Oakwood Village University Woods located just to the west, Madison is a central component of the wealth of opportunity and high quality of life people enjoy as residents of our communities. Consistently rated one of the best cities to live in America, Madison is a city where longtime residents stay and where newcomers find it easy to feel at home. The city is a place of natural beauty, bracketed by two of Wisconsin’s most beautiful lakes – Monona and Mendota. As the state capital and the home of the University of Wisconsin – Madison, the metropolis offers a rich mix of cultural and educational amenities readily accessible to residents of both Oakwood Village communities. Theater, sports, restaurants, museums, festivals and musical performances are just part of what fill the calendar of events from which local residents may choose. Madison also boasts a strong and expansive healthcare environment, which includes four general hospitals and more than 20 major medical clinics. Centerpiece of the medical community here is the University of Wisconsin Hospital – always on the forefront of research and the development of new treatments.
Since 1948, Oakwood Lutheran Senior Ministries has been focused on improving the lives of older adults living in the greater Madison area—as well as the lives of their families. In 1981, The Oakwood Foundation was founded to support a host of efforts to enhance quality of life for older adults living in our communities, as well as older adults living in the Madison region. Oakwood is able to continue to separate ourselves from other senior providers thanks to the additional employee training, enhanced community and living spaces and innovative new programs made possible through gifts to the Oakwood Foundation.
Oakwood Lutheran Senior Ministries – formerly Oakwood Lutheran Homes Association – was founded by St. John's Lutheran Church and several other Lutheran congregations in 1948. Our organization thrives today thanks to the support of 37 Lutheran churches in Madison and the surrounding area. While Oakwood Lutheran Senior Ministries proudly serves older adults from all denominations, our values and standards are consistent with the teachings of the Lutheran church. Listed below are the 37 sponsoring congregations of Oakwood Lutheran Senior Ministries. We encourage you to visit their websites and learn more about individual congregations.
