We honor the individual. We invest in the power of community. We are here for each other. We go above and beyond. We grow here. Wherever you are within the organization, we provide opportunities to grow professionally and personally. We help and encourage each other, share our knowledge, ask questions and listen to one another. With our residents and staff, we recognize the dignity of the individual and treat people with care and compassion. I love to be around them.”

  • Liz Gade Schara

Liz is the Life Enrichment Supervisor for Independent Living on the Prairie Ridge campus. Her love of working with seniors brought her to Oakwood Village 25 years ago. Life Enrichment focuses on ensuring programs and events are meaningful and enriching for residents, on many levels of well-being. Liz says, “Our events and programs aren't just fluff or a way to pass the hours. They're meaningful and purposeful.” “When you talk about people finding themselves, I feel so blessed that I was about to figure out, early on, where my energy and passion is. I really feel as if this is my mission and my passion to bring whatever I can to improve residents’ quality of life.”

  • Peggy Bohlman

Peggy Bohlman is the Health Unit Secretary on the Prairie Ridge campus. Peggy, who has been with Oakwood for 17 years, says she values making residents and their families comfortable. “A family member once came to me and said a former rehab patient recommended Oakwood because of me. And I thought to myself, you came here because of the Health Unit Secretary?” says Peggy. “I did remember that patient and her family, because I worked with them and was a primary contact person. Our attitude and environment here starts at the top, and our Director of Nursing is superb. I’m proud of the fact that we work so well together as a team, and I think our patients can sense that in the care they receive.”
